Areas of Practice
Adolescent counselling
whether you are a concerned teacher, parent, relative or friend, we are here to help! Contact us for guidance, and strategies or to arrange a meeting, assessment or an education workshop at your school, home, or business.
We have a comprehensive assessment system that will determine if, and to what level, chemical dependency is a problem in a young person’s life.
From beginning to end, we work closely with schools, guidance counsellors, therapists, and health providers involved with the student to ensure a thorough assessment, treatment plan, and positive outcome.
We use recognized screening measures and detailed information gathered from families, schools, the teen’s other health care providers, and our own mental health specialists to recommend a workable treatment plan.
individual counselling
In weekly or biweekly sessions you are encouraged to identify addictive patterns and relapse issues. You are supported as you develop a personal recovery programme that best supports your recovery goals. As these supports are developed and maintained, family, vocational, and relationship issues can then be addressed.
Adult counselling - men & women
Your journey to recovery begins with a thorough and comprehensive assessment process. In addition to recognized screening tools, your counsellor or therapist may gather information from family members and other health professionals always with your consent. A detailed life and drug or alcohol use/abuse history will be taken and examined. After your assessment is reviewed, you and your counsellor will decide on a treatment plan that best meet your needs. Treatment plans are entirely individualized, as you are unique.
Group counselling
You are not alone in your path to recovery. Others like you, are staying sober one day at a time. In weekly group sessions you continue to share your relapse issues and insights with a group of your peers who will be a good support system as you work towards recovery. These are people who are committed to working their recovery just as you are. Having a positive peer environment is an important tool in your recovery process. If you are already receiving treatment for addiction but wish to attend our support group, then please call us to arrange a group intake assessment.
out-patient counselling
Outpatient rehab care might work for you if:
You’re not at risk for suffering from intense withdrawal symptoms;
You have a healthy network of support;
You’re not surrounded in your life by people who drink alcohol or do drugs;
You can commit to attending all your appoin
intervention services
The process of addiction interventions is a simple but highly effective process. We will meet with participating family, friends and/or co-workers prior to the intervention, so we can educate everyone on the disease of addiction. Then we would give structure to how to run the intervention. We would collaborate with the all the loved ones and rehearse the intervention. Rehearsal is one of the most important elements to a successful intervention.
Often, we ask family and friends to write letters in which they describe their experiences of the addict’s behaviour and how it affects them individually. During the intervention, family members are asked to read their letters and speak honestly about their experience is affecting them. This often disables the addict and forces them to acknowledge their disease.
We create a safe environment that makes this compassionate experience for the affected person and it motivates them to seek recovery.
